\r\n\r\nWith Messages, you can send and receive text messages, photos, voice messages, and videos. If you don't have the Messages app, you can download it from\u00a0Google Play<\/a>.\r\n

<\/a>Set Messages as the default messaging app<\/h2>\r\nNote:<\/strong>\u00a0some of these steps only work on Android 6.0 and above.\u00a0Find out how to check your Android version<\/a>If you have more than one messaging app on your device, you can set Messages as your default messaging app.\r\n

  1. Open the Messages app\u00a0\"Android.\u00a0Find out where to find your apps<\/a>.<\/li>\r\n \t
  2. When prompted to change your default messaging app, follow the on-screen instructions.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\nYou can also change your default messaging app using the Settings app.\u00a0\"Settings\u00a0device.\u00a0Find out how to set or delete default apps<\/a>.\r\n

    Start a conversation with one of your contacts.<\/h2>\r\nIf a contact is already on your phone, it will appear as a contact in the Messages app. You can also add a new contact from the app itself.\r\n

    1. Open the Messages app\u00a0\"Android.<\/li>\r\n \t
    2. Tap\u00a0Start chat<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n \t
    3. Enter the name, phone number, or email address of the person you are sending a message to.<\/li>\r\n \t
    4. Type your message and touch\u00a0\"Submit\".<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

      Add a new number to your conversation list as a contact<\/h2>\r\n
        \r\n \t
      1. Open the Messages app\u00a0\"Android.<\/li>\r\n \t
      2. Select an existing conversation with someone who isn't in your contacts.<\/li>\r\n \t
      3. Touch More\u00a0\"Other\"\"and\u00a0add contact<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

        Add a new contact from a group conversation<\/h2>\r\n

        1. Open the Messages app\u00a0\"Android.<\/li>\r\n \t
        2. Select a group conversation with the number you want to add as a contact.<\/li>\r\n \t
        3. Touch More\u00a0\"Other\"\"and\u00a0Details<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n \t
        4. Touch the number you want to add\u00a0\"and\u00a0add contact<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

          Change the notification settings for specific people<\/h2>\r\n

          1. Open the Messages app\u00a0\"Android.<\/li>\r\n \t
          2. Open a conversation with the person you want to edit notifications for.<\/li>\r\n \t
          3. Touch More\u00a0\"Other\"\"and\u00a0Details<\/strong>\u00a0\"and\u00a0Notifications<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\nYou can enable or disable notifications for the specific person completely or change the advanced settings for displaying notifications on your device.\r\n

            Block a contact<\/h2>\r\nWhen you block someone, you will no longer receive calls or messages from that person.\r\n
