Whatsapp Pay how chat payment works

Mark Zuckerberg introduces a new feature to WhatsApp: the ability to make digital payments via WhatsApp Pay. Here's what it's all about.

If you are wondering What is WhatsApp Pay and how does it work?, know that it is a service that allows you to send and receive money through the WhatsApp messaging app. Read on to find out more details about new feature launched by Mark Zuckerberg.

WhatsApp launches digital payments in Brazil, but the service will soon be available worldwide.

What is WhatsApp Pay?

In Brazil i are being tested payments via WhatsAppA service that allows app users to send and receive money, all through a simple chat.

The service will be available for both business and private accounts. Payments can therefore be made between a company and a user, or between users. The difference lies in the cost of the service: free for exchanges between friends and subject to commissions for business ones.

Here is the message published by the company headed by Mark Zuckerberg:

But how to pay with WhatsApp? First of all you will have to associate a payment method to your WhatsApp account which, for the moment, seems to be limited to credit and debit cards of the Visa and Mastercard circuits.

Payment will be handled by a six-digit PIN (facial recognition or fingerprint scanning will likely also be available) to prevent unauthorized transactions.

The transaction will take place without leaving the chat: a text message will inform you of the amount of money sent or received. The WhatsApp Pay function will be integrated into the app's keyboard, just like the one for sending photos/videos and GIFs.
