If you have one smartphone Not very young, be careful. WhatsApp will no longer be available on millions of smartphones: here's which ones.
Because from February 2020, the instant messaging application known and used worldwide will no longer work on some obsolete models. As explained by theIndependent, in fact, various Android, iPhone and Windows Phone devices could lose the technological support of Whatsapp at the beginning of the new year if they are not updated accordingly.
And so the app will stop working on millions and millions of phones, as the company itself – owned by Facebook – has announced that the platform will no longer be able to be supported by older phones. The reason? Reasons of safety, of course.
WhatsApp will no longer be available on millions of smartphones: here's which ones: iPhones with iOS 8 or earlier operating systems and devices with Android 2.3.7 or earlier. This means, for example, that anyone with an iPhone 6 or later doesn't have to worry: WhatsApp will continue to work normally, without any problems. Even mobile Android devices running a version older than 2.3.3 – also known as “Gingerbread” – are no longer supported, and anyone attempting to create a new account from scratch will be blocked entirely.
By the way, on Windows Phone the stop will arrive with New Year's Eve: yes, because from December 31, 2019, WA will go into block.
It's not the first time that Whatsapp ends support for older cell phones and commented on this choice as a difficult but necessary decision for security reasons and to ensure the effective functionality of the instant messaging application itself: "This is the right choice if we want to provide people with increasingly better and more efficient ways to stay in touch with family, friends, and loved ones. For the best experience, we recommend using the latest version of iOS available on your phones.".
