Plans

  • The Mailchimp app is included from the SendApp Business plan.
  • SendApp never subscribes anyone to your emails: people who write to you on WhatsApp can be added to the audience as non-subscribed contacts, and only if you choose.
  • Several accounts of the same CRM? Connect one for each WhatsApp number: each account works with its own number and contacts stay in a single SendApp contact list.

What the app does

  • Contacts in both directions: name, email and phone stay the same in your Mailchimp audience and in SendApp. When you connect, the audience members arrive in SendApp with the tag you choose; if you have more audiences, choose the one to use.
  • WhatsApp messages on Mailchimp: every message, received or sent, becomes the whatsapp_message event on the Mailchimp contact (use it in segments and to start a Customer Journey), plus a note per conversation and day.
  • Templates from Customer Journeys: the Webhook action of a Customer Journey sends your approved WhatsApp template to the contact.

How to connect

  1. In SendApp open Apps, switch on Mailchimp and press Configure.
  2. Choose the WhatsApp Account and press Sign in to Mailchimp: Mailchimp asks you to allow SendApp, there is nothing to copy.
  3. Or use an API key: in Mailchimp open your profile (bottom left) → Profile → Extras → API keys, press Create A Key, name it «SendApp», press Generate Key, copy it (Mailchimp shows it only once) and paste it in SendApp. Create it with an Admin or Manager user.
  4. Done: the audience members arrive in SendApp and from then on the WhatsApp chats reach Mailchimp.

Templates from Customer Journeys

  1. In SendApp, in Apps → Mailchimp, choose the template and its variables: SendApp gives you the address and the body (JSON) to use.
  2. In Mailchimp, in a Customer Journey, add the Webhook action and paste the address and the body.
  3. The contact who reaches that step receives the template. Keep the address private: whoever has it can send your templates.

Good to know

  • SendApp works with one Mailchimp audience: changing it brings in the members of the new audience, the contacts already in SendApp stay.
  • SendApp never subscribes anyone to your emails: who writes to you on WhatsApp and has an email can be added to the audience as a contact without email consent (not subscribed), and only if you choose so.
  • With one Mailchimp account connected, the chats of all your Accounts arrive in Mailchimp, from the moment you connect the app. You can also connect more Mailchimp accounts, one per WhatsApp number, with Connect another Mailchimp account: each one gets the chats of its own number and sends templates only from that number. The first one connected is the main one: it gets the chats of the numbers that have no Mailchimp account of their own. All the contacts stay in your one SendApp address book.
  • «Disconnect» in SendApp removes the access to Mailchimp. Contacts and chats stay in SendApp.
  • The app is included only in some SendApp plans: check the Apps included in your plan.

Or: Zapier, Make or n8n

If a simple connection is enough, you can still use Zapier, Make or n8n with our webhook or our API. To keep contacts and chats aligned you need the app.
