What doesn’t work in WhatsApp broadcast lists
It only reaches people who saved you
If the customer hasn’t saved your number, the message never leaves. It’s WhatsApp’s rule, not your mistake — and there’s no way to know in advance.
Your number can be blocked
Repeated sends from regular WhatsApp read as spam. The number gets blocked, and the list you built on it goes with it.
Broadcast as it should be
One send, to the whole list, without splitting it into blocks of 256. No address-book requirement: the message arrives because the contact gave you permission, not because they saved you. The channel is verified by Meta and recognised as a business account, so it isn’t treated as a number that sends too much. And the person doesn’t see a mass mailing: they see a normal message, in their chat, with their name on it.

Is it legal to send a WhatsApp broadcast to customers?
Yes, with consent and the official APIs. The contact must have given you permission to write to them: the same condition as email marketing, and in the platform every contact carries where it came from.
How many contacts can one broadcast reach?
There’s no list limit: the ceiling depends on your plan — from 1,000 contacts on Professional to 30,000 on Platinum — and on the quality rating Meta gives your number.
Do customers need to have saved my number?
No. That’s a limit of WhatsApp Business’s native lists, not of the official APIs. With SendApp the message reaches whoever gave you consent, saved or not.
Am I risking a block on my number?
On the official APIs the channel is verified by Meta and recognised as a business account, so it isn’t treated like a personal number sending too much. Meta’s rules on consent and templates still apply, and the platform helps you keep to them.
